Southey Contracting is looking for hardworking and reliable General Workers to join the team at our Sasol Secunda work site for an upcoming shutdown project. Role overview
As a General Worker, you will support shutdown operations by assisting with the safe handling of materials, basic site housekeeping, and general labour tasks as directed by the Supervisor. You will play a vital role in ensuring that work runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely throughout the shutdown period.
Key responsibilities
Handling, loading, and offloading materials and equipment on site.
Stacking and storing materials safely in designated areas.
Erecting, moving, and dismantling barricades and basic structures as required.
Assisting with housekeeping, cleaning work areas, and keeping walkways clear.
Supporting the team with general labour duties, including basic tool handling.
Following all safety instructions, wearing PPE, and reporting any unsafe conditions immediately.
Knowledge, skills and qualifications
Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) required.
Ability to read and follow basic instructions and safety procedures.
Good time management, reliability, and willingness to work shifts and overtime if required.
Physically fit and able to perform manual labour in an industrial environment.
Previous experience in a petro-chemical, construction, or industrial shutdown environment will be an added advantage.
