Location: Harry Gwala, uMgungundlovu, Amajuba, uThukela, uMzinyathi Districts (KZN)

Start date: ASAP

 

LifeLine PMB is seeking passionate, committed Social Workers to join our team providing psychosocial support and GBV services across key districts in KwaZulu‑Natal. This role is ideal for a Social Worker who is ready to work at community level, support survivors and contribute to meaningful change.

 

Key responsibilities

Provide individual and group psychosocial support to survivors of GBV and related social issues.

 

Conduct intake, assessment, counselling and referral services in line with organisational protocols.

 

Facilitate community dialogues, awareness campaigns and prevention programmes on GBV and sexual reproductive health.

 

Compile accurate case notes, statistics and narrative reports within set deadlines.

 

Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including SAPS, health facilities, shelters, community structures and schools.

 

Participate in advocacy initiatives and represent LifeLine PMB in relevant forums when required.

 

Maintain strict confidentiality, ethical conduct and professional boundaries at all times.

 

Work occasional weekends and public holidays as programme demands.

 

Minimum requirements

Registered Social Worker (completed a 4‑year BSW or equivalent).

 

Current registration with SACSSP.

 

Valid code 08 driver’s licence (unendorsed) and willingness to travel extensively in rural areas of KZN and, when necessary, sleep over.

 

Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of fieldwork.

 

Demonstrated knowledge of GBV, trauma, and sexual reproductive health.

 

Experience in writing professional reports and case notes.

 

Computer literate (Word, Excel, email, basic data capturing).

 

Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

 

Strong communication skills and fluency in English and IsiZulu (both spoken and written).

 

Added advantages

Previous work experience within GBV, HIV, community development or similar programmes.

 

Social workers who have qualified through a DSD bursary.

 

Completion of a LifeLine GBV or trauma counselling course (or similar accredited training).
