Absa has opened applications for its Junior Learner programme in Johannesburg, offering a hands‑on entry point for young South Africans ready to start a career in banking. The full‑time programme combines structured training with workplace exposure designed to develop the practical skills and professional habits employers value.

Participants will follow a clear learning plan that balances classroom interventions with on-the-job experience. Trainees will support daily branch or team activities, provide customer assistance, and handle administrative duties such as tracking and reporting. The programme emphasises measurable development objectives so learners can see progress and build a meaningful CV.

Eligibility criteria are straightforward: candidates need an NQF level 5 or higher and a GET Certificate in Business, Commerce and Management Studies. Importantly, applicants must not be currently studying or employed — the intake targets individuals who can commit fully to the programme. Absa also prioritises transformation principles and will give preference to candidates from designated groups to support equitable workforce representation.

Beyond technical skills, the Junior Learner programme aims to instil customer service excellence, teamwork, and accountability — qualities that prepare participants for a range of roles across Absa’s diverse operations in retail, corporate, and support functions. Successful learners may find internal career pathways and mentorship opportunities within the bank’s regional network.

This opportunity is time‑sensitive: the application deadline is 29 May 2026. Interested applicants should review the full job requisition R‑15987322 on Absa’s careers portal and apply promptly.

Joining Absa as a Junior Learner offers a practical route into the financial services sector — a chance to learn, contribute, and begin a professional story with a bank that says: your story matter
