Our comprehensive 18-month training program, commencing on December 1, 2023, and concluding on May 31, 2025, will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for a career in road traffic law enforcement.
Requirements:
Grade 12 qualification
Medical and physical fitness
Valid Code B Driving Licence
Ability to work in a team and handle stressful situations
No criminal record
Permanent residence within the jurisdiction of Cape Town
Training Details:
During the training, you will complete the Further Education and Training Certificate in Road Traffic Law Enforcement, as well as the Law Enforcement Skills Program SP4/2012. Please note that successful completion of the course does not guarantee automatic employment.
Compulsory Fitness Test:
All shortlisted candidates must pass a rigorous fitness test, including a 2.4 km run (Males: 12:30 minutes, Females: 16:00 minutes), push-ups (30 in 60 seconds), and sit-ups (30 in 60 seconds).
Selection Process:
Candidates will undergo a written assessment, interview, physical assessment, criminal background check, City medical evaluation, and compulsory drug test. Continuous random drug tests and psychological assessments will be conducted throughout the training.
Code of Conduct and Commitment:
Candidates will be expected to adhere to the code of conduct of the Metropolitan Police Training Academy and meet pass requirements as stipulated by the Academy and relevant unit standards. Additionally, candidates will be contractually bound to refund the City under specific circumstances, such as unilateral withdrawal or failure to complete the course for disciplinary reasons.
Payment:
Trainees will receive a monthly stipend of R5,705.08.
