Fraser Alexander is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious and hardworking Assistant General Worker to join its operations team in the Northern Cape. This role is ideal for an individual who is physically fit, willing to learn and able to work effectively as part of a team in an operational site environment.
The successful candidate will provide general site assistance and support daily activities to help the team achieve its operational goals. You will work under supervision while carrying out assigned duties, following company procedures and maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will be expected to:
Collaborate with site teams to support the achievement of operational targets and daily goals.
Assist with inspections of your designated work area and report hazards, defects, unsafe conditions or other deviations to the relevant supervisor.
Support pipeline and valve operations under appropriate supervision and in accordance with approved procedures.
Assist site teams with identifying and resolving basic operational challenges.
Escalate equipment problems, safety concerns and operational deviations promptly.
Perform general site activities as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
Complete basic housekeeping duties to keep work areas clean, orderly and safe.
Handle tools, equipment and materials responsibly and report any damage or loss.
Follow all standard operating procedures, work instructions and site requirements.
Comply with company health and safety rules, legal requirements and workplace procedures.
Participate in safety meetings, inspections and other activities when required.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working with colleagues, supervisors and other site personnel.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
At least one year of relevant work experience.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to listen carefully and follow instructions.
A strong commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
Good attention to detail.
A willingness to learn new skills and procedures.
A safety-conscious approach to all work activities.
The physical, mental and medical fitness required to perform the duties of the role.
Previous experience in mining, processing, plant operations, construction, engineering support, maintenance or another industrial environment may be advantageous. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors or in demanding site conditions and must be prepared to carry out practical duties as required.
Working Conditions
This position may involve rotating shifts, overtime and work in an operational site environment. The successful applicant must be flexible regarding working hours and able to respond to operational requirements. All duties must be performed responsibly, safely and in accordance with Fraser Alexander’s policies and procedures.
