KAP Holdings is inviting experienced drivers to apply for an Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Driver position at its Pretoria outbound division. This role demands more than simply moving freight from A to B — it requires a professional who combines technical skill, strict safety discipline and strong customer service to ensure goods reach clients securely and on schedule.
Candidates must have a Grade 12 (matric) or equivalent, and be numerically and verbally literate at least at a Grade 10 level. A Code EC driver’s licence with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) is essential, together with at least three years’ experience operating ultra-heavy vehicles. Applicants must be 25 years or older and ready to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Safety leads every aspect of the role. Drivers must demonstrate solid defensive driving techniques, conduct regular vehicle inspections, correctly operate fire extinguishers and strictly follow reporting procedures for emergencies and defects. Compliance with the National Road Traffic Act — including ensuring vehicles are not overloaded — is non-negotiable. A clean driving and criminal record will be verified as part of the recruitment process.

Operational competence is equally important. Drivers will prepare vehicles for trips, load, transport and offload cargo, secure loads and operate or supervise offloading equipment where required. Opening and closing tarpaulins, maintaining vehicle housekeeping, and keeping uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) in good order form part of the daily routine. The role also includes handling documentation and performing ancillary duties as instructed by supervisors.
KAP places emphasis on continuous evaluation and onboarding: shortlisted candidates must undergo medical evaluation, complete USCS training modules and induction processes, and pass a practical driving assessment. These stages ensure drivers meet the company’s standards for safety, efficiency and service.
Beyond technical ability, KAP values professionalism and strong customer interaction. Drivers represent the company at client sites and should handle customers courteously and efficiently while safeguarding the cargo entrusted to them.
