Key Responsibilities
- Operate Butchery Equipment: Proficiently use all butchery equipment, including the bandsaw.
- Quality Control: Report any defective equipment or utensils to the Butchery Manager.
- Stock Management: Control, merchandise, and promote stock according to established procedures and standards.
- Meat Preparation: Prepare and break down various meat carcasses as per specifications.
- De-boning & Production: De-bone cuts of meat and manufacture mince, sausages, and boerewors.
- Waste Management: Prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damages.
- Cold Chain Monitoring: Check temperatures and maintain the cold chain effectively.
- Customer Service: Provide products and services while handling customers courteously.
- Hygiene Maintenance: Maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in butchery-related equipment and utensils.
- Receiving Stock: Assist with the receiving of meat from suppliers.
- Staff Training: Help train staff on new products and lines.
Qualifications
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar role is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Strong customer service orientation and teamwork abilities.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to listen carefully and respond appropriately.
- Passion for meat products with a sense of urgency in task completion.
- Physical capability to lift carcasses and containers of meat.
Additional Requirements
- Must comply with medical criteria as required by the OHS Act for the Butchery.
- All applicants will complete appropriate numeracy screening assessments.
