Position Overview:
The Learner Silo Operator is an entry-level role critical to the efficient and safe storage and handling of grain. This position involves monitoring grain flow, ensuring grain protection, and operating silo equipment in compliance with company policies.

 

• Monitoring Grain Flow: Oversee the movement of grain from intake to storage, ensuring smooth operations.
• Grain Protection: Perform fumigation tasks as directed to protect grain from pests and diseases.
• Temperature Monitoring: Regularly check the temperature of grain tubes and report any deviations to the supervisor.
• Measuring Grain Tubes: Conduct measurements to ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain proper storage conditions.
• Silo Operations: Manage silo operations according to VKB Group’s policies, ensuring machinery functions correctly and safety protocols are followed.

 

Requirements:

• Educational Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Certifications: A certificate in grain grading and grain fumigation is essential.
• Experience: While prior experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory as this is an entry-level position.

Skills Required:

• High level of responsibility and accountability.
• Punctuality and timeliness in operations.
• Conflict management skills to handle issues effectively.
• Initiative to proactively address tasks and potential problems.
