Are you driven by a passion for environmental conservation and innovative waste management solutions? We’re seeking an enthusiastic individual committed to diverting waste from landfills and finding sustainable alternatives.

 

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility is to ensure accurate sorting and characterization of residual waste after standard sorting and recycling activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing precise ratios of recyclable, non-recyclable, organic/compostable, and general waste found in residual materials.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Possess detailed knowledge of various grades of recyclable materials and their acceptable contamination levels.

Identify when specific recyclable materials are deemed non-recyclable.

Have an in-depth understanding of organic waste, compostable materials, and contaminants.

Recognize non-recyclable materials lacking commercial value.

Supervise sorting staff assigned to residual waste and ensure accurate sorting and weighing of all material grades.

Utilize waste audit recording and reporting systems accurately.

Effectively communicate with the Site Manager, bringing any concerns identified in the waste audit to their attention for client discussion.

Ensure the waste audit is representative of the entire body of waste sorted.

Assume the Site Manager’s responsibilities during their absence.

Participate actively in finding solutions for difficult-to-recycle waste streams.

Administrative Responsibilities:

 

Ensure all training registers are accurately completed and submitted to HR weekly.

Report any operational performance challenges to the Operations or Site Manager.

Requirements:

 

Relevant degree or diploma is essential.

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the waste industry.

Valid driver’s license.

Strong communication skills.

Experience in report writing and data analysis.
