About the Position:
The Department of Water and Sanitation is seeking a motivated and reliable Handyman to join our Provincial Operations team in the Eastern Cape, specifically within the Water Resources Support directorate. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a foundational understanding of general work and equipment management, who are eager to grow their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Handyman, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks essential to the maintenance and functionality of our facilities and equipment. Key duties include:
Performing routine maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment.
Assisting in the installation and maintenance of water resource systems.
Managing and controlling general work, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Conducting inspections to identify issues and determine the best course of action.
Collaborating with other team members to complete larger projects.
Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and protocols.
Keeping accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
Using hand and power tools competently and safely.
Requirements:
Educational Requirement: ABET Level 4.
Experience: Zero (0) to six (6) months of relevant work experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Basic knowledge of controlling and managing general work and equipment.
Familiarity with maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
Ability to use hand and power tools.
Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges.
