FlySafair is seeking an experienced Airport Operations Specialist (Airside) to join its Western Cape team, a role that blends frontline operational leadership with advanced data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will develop and oversee weekly operational plans that align staffing and equipment with passenger demand forecasts, anticipate constraints, and recommend proactive solutions to maintain service quality and compliance. Acting as delegated authority for the Base Manager when required, this specialist ensures continuity of operations while upholding rigorous safety, security, and regulatory standards.
The role demands strong third-party management skills: candidates will manage relationships with contracted providers and airport authorities, monitor service-level agreements, lead performance reviews, and drive improvements where standards fall short. Practical knowledge of baggage and ramp procedures, IATA manuals (AHM and GOM), Ground Support Equipment, and SACAA regulations is essential, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient airside activity.
A key differentiator for this position is the emphasis on data analytics. The specialist will collect and model operational data—turnaround times, incident investigations, delay root-cause analysis, and third-party KPIs—and design dashboards to track real-time performance and long-term trends. Applying statistical and visualization techniques, they will translate insights into operational improvements that reduce costs and enhance passenger service.
Applicants must hold Grade 12 and a diploma or degree in Aviation Management, Data Analytics, Logistics, or related fields, with at least seven years’ airport or airline operations experience and two years in a supervisory or specialist role. Personal attributes sought include professionalism, integrity, proactivity, and calm decision-making under pressure.
FlySafair encourages applications from under-represented designated groups. This permanent, mid-level position offers market-related remuneration and the chance to play a pivotal role in shaping efficient, safe, and passenger-focused airport operations in the Western Cape.
