Main Purpose of Job

To support nursing unit staff in delivering safe and quality patient care that meets the healthcare needs of patients.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Patient Care Support: Assist nursing unit staff in delivering quality patient care within a team approach.
  • Risk Management: Identify and report risks in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Patient Experience: Contribute to a positive patient experience by assisting nursing staff.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to nursing unit staff as required.
  • Continuous Development: Participate in continuous personal development to enhance staff competence.
  • Stock Management: Ensure efficient utilization of required stock and accurate charging.

 

Required Education

  • Essential Education: Appropriate qualification as a Care Worker.
  • Desired Education: Grade 12.

Required Experience

  • Essential Experience: Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Desired Experience: None required.

 

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of stock control principles.
  • Ability to report and document events/tasks.
  • Knowledge of medico-legal risks.
  • Familiarity with administrative tasks.
  • Understanding of patient experience aspects and patient care principles.
  • Application of infection prevention and control principles.
