The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is seeking to hire 8 Casual Workers for a six-month fixed-term contract. The positions are divided as follows: 4 positions in Nelspruit and 4 positions in Hluhluwe.

Job Responsibilities

  • Planting of seeds and seedlings
  • Harvesting of fruits and vegetables
  • Irrigation and fertilizer application
  • Weed, pest, and disease control
  • Sampling plants for evaluation
  • Carrying out farm practices as directed by the Researcher or Supervisor
  • Use and maintenance of provided tools and equipment
  • Performing manual tasks assigned by the supervisor
  • Observing Occupational Health and Safety instructions, including the use of protective clothing

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of Grade 10 and understanding of basic agricultural practices
  • Basic knowledge of manual operation of farm equipment and machinery
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Willingness to work under adverse weather conditions
