Job Description

Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated General Assistant to join our team in Engcobo. The successful candidate will ensure comprehensive customer service in-store, assist with merchandising stock, and shelf price labelling, and maintain housekeeping within their designated area of responsibility.

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with 1 year of work-related experience, or Grade 12 without related work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language.
• Valid South African ID or work permit.
• Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service:

• Advise and assist customers with product selections and queries.
• Address and resolve customer complaints effectively.

Merchandising Standards:

• Safely merchandise bulk stock according to store layout plans.
• Ensure areas of responsibility are fully stocked and organized according to planograms.
• Maintain correct shelf price labelling.

Housekeeping:

• Keep the area free of obstacles and ensure stock is merchandised immediately upon receipt.
• Complete checklists as required for canteen and toilet/shower schedules.

Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to safety (OHSA) requirements, ensuring the safety of customers and staff.
• Report any discrepancies or damaged stock to the Store Manager.

Performance and Decision-Making:

• Achieve set targets and deliver work at the required standard.
• Identify problems, seek root causes, and resolve issues effectively.
• Make decisions within the framework of company policies.
