In a viral video that’s igniting social media fury, an undocumented Mozambican national—identified as the manager of a bustling Johannesburg construction site—has thrown down the gauntlet to President Cyril Ramaphosa. The clip, which has racked up over 500,000 views on TikTok and Facebook since surfacing late last night, captures the man, speaking fluent Zulu with a thick accent, mocking the president’s recent announcement of deploying 10,000 inspectors to crack down on illegal employment in key sectors like construction and hospitality.

“You send your inspectors, Mr. President, but who will build your houses? We do the work your people won’t!” he declares, gesturing to a team of workers laying bricks under floodlights. The footage, timestamped February 15, 2026, at a site in Midrand, shows him laughing off deportation fears while supervising overtime shifts. “I’ve been here 15 years, managing this crew. Inspectors come and go—we pay the fines and keep going.”

Ramaphosa’s directive, unveiled during a State of the Nation address last week, aims to safeguard jobs for South Africans amid soaring unemployment at 33.5%. Labor unions like COSATU have hailed it as a “long-overdue shield,” but critics argue it ignores the skills gap in manual trades. This brazen challenge exposes raw tensions: South Africa’s porous borders with Mozambique see thousands cross daily for work, fueling xenophobic undercurrents.

Netizens are divided. “Deport him now! SA first!” rages one commenter, while others defend: “He speaks truth—locals want office jobs.” The video ends with the manager shrugging: “Inspect all you want; construction doesn’t stop.
