About the role
The Grants Administrator will assist with the effective administration of social grants at local office level, ensuring that qualifying beneficiaries receive timeous and accurate social assistance services. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented, client-focused individual committed to Batho Pele principles and public service excellence.
Key responsibilities
Provide frontline grant customer care, including receiving clients, handling enquiries and resolving grant-related complaints.
Screen, verify and capture new grant applications and beneficiary maintenance on relevant systems in line with applicable legislation and policies.
Check supporting documents for completeness, conduct quality control on applications and ensure adherence to PFMA requirements.
Process reviews, suspensions, restorations and terminations of grants, including medical assessments and payment instructions where applicable.
Prepare basic statistics, maintain accurate records and contribute to queue management and general administrative support within the local office.
Minimum requirements
Grade 12 plus a relevant NQF Level 5 qualification in Public Management, Social Sciences, Administration or related field.
Computer literacy with sound knowledge of MS Office.
Previous experience in grants administration, customer service or public sector administration will be an advantage.
A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage where operational needs require outreach services.

Sound knowledge of social security legislation and PFMA compliance will be beneficial.
