The African National Congress (ANC) has issued a serious warning about deliberate attempts aimed at destabilizing both the party itself and South Africa’s already fragile economy. On Saturday, following a confidential meeting in KwaZulu-Natal, Kwazi Mshengu, the ANC’s provincial head of political education, publicly expressed deep concern over what he described as “forces hard at work” seeking to undermine the progress the country has made under ANC leadership.

Mshengu’s comments come at a time when South Africa faces multiple challenges, including economic stagnation, high unemployment, and increasing social unrest. According to him, these forces are not only targeting the ANC as a political organization but are also intent on weakening the country’s economic foundations. He pointed to a coordinated effort by adversaries who are capitalizing on social divisions and economic hardships to erode confidence in the ruling party and government institutions.

The ANC leader emphasized the need for unity within the party and among citizens to resist these threats. He urged members to remain vigilant and focused on the broader goal of national development and transformation. Mshengu also touched on the importance of political education, ensuring that the public understands the complexities behind the current challenges and recognizes attempts to destabilize progress as deliberate sabotage rather than random failures.

This call to action highlights the delicate political landscape in South Africa, where the ANC has governed since the end of apartheid but increasingly faces criticism and opposition. Mshengu’s remarks reflect a defensive posture, aiming to rally party members and supporters to reinforce their commitment to the ANC’s vision amid mounting pressure.

As South Africa navigates economic difficulties and political tension, the ANC’s message is clear: external and internal forces are conspiring to disrupt the country’s advancement, and only through solidarity and informed vigilance can these threats be overcome
