Position Purpose:
The HAST Counsellor Driver will be responsible for transporting peer-led outreach teams and equipment to various service locations. The role also includes conducting readiness assessments for PrEP, pre-test, post-test, supportive, and adherence counselling services.

 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Valid 10-day HIV/AIDS counselling certificate from a recognized provider
  • Certification to conduct finger prick testing
  • Minimum two years of driving experience and working in HIV and TB programs
  • Valid code EB or C1 driver’s license with PDP
  • Proficiency in English and isiZulu

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transport PPPrev teams and equipment to designated locations.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and submit checklists on time.
  • Provide quality HIV counselling and testing services.
  • Facilitate individual and group health education sessions.
  • Assess service users’ readiness to start PrEP.
  • Document all activities using Comm Care or paper-based tools.
  • Collect data at outreach events using attendance tools.
  • Screen service users for COVID-19, tuberculosis, and STIs.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team while maintaining professionalism.
  • Refer service users for additional tests as needed.
  • Adhere to relevant legislation and organizational policies.
