Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic Literacy
Experience Required:
- One (1) year of relevant experience
Requirements:
- Proficiency in at least two (2) of the official languages (Afrikaans/English/Xhosa – Speak, Read, Write)
- High level of responsibility
- Ability to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime
- Must be physically fit and able-bodied
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions
- Availability to perform duties throughout the entire municipal area when required
Job Purpose:
The General Assistant will perform specific activities associated with the collection of refuse from residential and business premises, loading and offloading refuse on/from trucks, and cleaning streets and stormwater channels according to established service delivery standards.
Key Performance Areas:
- Collect refuse from domestic and business premises
- Maintain cleanliness of streets and public places
- Clean the area surrounding refuse disposal sites
- Clean vehicles and manage cleaning tools
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during tasks
- Participate in the Municipality’s Performance Management and Development System
General Information:
- A service bonus equivalent to one month’s salary may be payable, along with other benefits applicable to the Municipality.
