The City of Johannesburg’s Department of Health is seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to join their Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) as Jozi Ihlomile Educators. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of communities across the city.

 

 

As a Jozi Ihlomile Educator, your primary function will be to educate community members through door-to-door campaigns in priority wards. You will focus on raising awareness about critical health issues such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB), Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STI), substance abuse, and stigma. Additionally, you will provide information on other relevant social matters, including gender-based violence. Your role will also involve referring individuals in need to local services for poverty relief, social support, and healthcare, ensuring they receive the assistance they require.

 

To be considered for this position, you must possess a Grade 12 qualification (NQF level 4) and have knowledge of the City’s processes, best practices, policies, and procedures related to health and social issues. Strong numeric, writing, and verbal communication skills are essential, as is proficiency in using electronic devices for texting messages, sending emails, and navigating the internet. The ideal candidate will be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old and reside in one of the specified wards.

 

In addition to your educational responsibilities, you will be required to report and record all activities using the provided reporting stationery and submit reports promptly. Your success in this role will depend on your ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate honesty and accountability, manage time effectively, and take initiative when necessary. Strong organizational skills, emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently and under pressure are also key competencies for this position.
