OPERATIONS- Supervisor Warehouse N – (22000NAG)
Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervision of all Receiving, Kanban/Staging and Dispatch/Distribution staff including training, evaluating performance, providing daily instruction- including prioritizing and assigning work and providing direction –and determining disciplinary actions when necessary.
Ensures resources and personnel are available and allocated to meet operational demand, responds to employee and management questions and concerns, and monitors operational efficiency and accuracy.
Oversees staff who receipt stock, pull and pick orders based on production needs, prepare items for production; and completes appropriate paperwork or updates system records.
Ensures warehouse (which includes inventory in and outside the warehouse) cycles, accuracy, safety targets, efficiency metrics, and other operational measurements are met across the functions. This includes maintaining tight inventory disciplines as it relates to timely identification of all close-to- expiry materials and products, physical relocation thereof, correct stock rotation (FEFO), correct material handling and storage, physical protection from the elements, prevention of unauthorized access and movement of inventory etc.
Ensures handheld scanner devices are utilised for all stock movements – enforce zero tolerance to non-adherence

Ensures batches are staged, raw materials allocated on the mainframe (Oracle 11i), and all relevant transactions or movements are done accurately, completely and on time as the system procedures require.
Prepares, analyzes, and compiles complex freight payments and related reporting for units; reviews for efficiency and cost savings and makes appropriate recommendations.
Examines invoices and shipping documents to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Analyzes trends, reviews forecasts, and develops reports and recommendations to control transportation costs.
Ensures compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Trains staff on best practices and all other applicable required training needs. .
Resolves discrepancies, reviews contracts and specifications, and attempts to solve problems.

Assist Line Manager and Stock Controller to achieve comprehensive warehouse and stock control management systems
Support Stock Controller to achieve company objectives
Daily Cross functional collaboration to ensure product supplied OTIF (On Time In Full)
Supervise and/or perform:
Accurate receipts through use of blind tally and put away with handheld device
accurate, prompt picking of product from inventory locations, make ready for shipping with handheld device;
control intermediate and finished goods stock on hand in accuracy of quantity, location, status, and FEFO with handheld device
arrange transport and schedule dispatches to ensure timely deliveries;
load vehicles, account for all product, ensure good condition prior to dispatch;

control and account for the distribution of pallets, flow bins/ totes etc.;
ensure correct shipping documents, COA’s (including special customer requirements), account for POD’s;
ensure all transporters possess valid trem-cards, declarations, daily vehicle inspections etc.;
validate and authorize all transporters invoices (in terms of accounting procedures)
account for all in-transit incidents, ensure claimable incidents properly and quickly resolved;
ensure appropriate coverage for after-hours/week-end deliveries;
coordinate transport etc. for returns from customer (Authority To Collect), advise receiving;
coordinate transport etc. for removal of redundant inventory from Sherwin Williams or customer locations;

Ensure:
compliance with all relevant QSHE, ISO and NOSA procedures and standards;
compliance with handling of dangerous goods on site and regarding deliveries;
high standard of safe-keeping/protection from damage, theft, loss etc of all inventory under own control;
correct, timely initial recording of all shipping, distribution, inventory transactions under own control;
high standard of housekeeping (5S’s) in all warehouse locations;
proper use and safe-keeping of all inventory measurement and recording electronic devices;
safe and careful operating and safe-keeping of all forklift and reach trucks under direct control;
to manage transport to optimise cost and prevent idle time, double handling etc.
Keep all related work instructions/SOP’s current and valid;
Keep up-to-date with all relevant QSHE-related, corporate, statutory, inventory handling, storage, chemical industry standards etc;
Performs other duties assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tertiary education in Operations Management or Supply Chain Management or equivalent education and experience in Warehousing or related chemicals industry.
POSITION SUMMARY: Based at our manufacturing site in DURBAN, KZN, this role supervises a medium sized team of employees performing warehousing functions. Performs intermediate duties in the administration of warehousing, logistics, transportation, and related supply chains. Responsibilities may include developing alternative logistics plans and coordinating operations with other staff; coordinating daily operations among functions and ensuring operational targets and metrics are met. The Supervisor is responsible for all physical and system inventory movements from receipt, put away, issuing to receiving back from production, pick and dispatch to final customers.

Overall responsibility for the physical preparation, loading and initial recording of all product shipments from the Sherwin Williams site in Jacobs, Durban, including the co-ordination and control of the modes and means of appropriate transportation. Responsible for arranging the transfer of product from one location to another.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive hands-on supervisory experience within a Chemical manufacturing environment; experience within a Warehouse environment.
