University life is a like a movie. It can be fun, extremely demanding, teaching, thrilling, depressing and challenging amongst other things. We are often taught (in society) that we need to get good grades to obtain university acceptance, however, acceptance is only one side of the story. There is a whole lot more than packing your bags to pursue one’s dreams.
This article will focus on 3 tips that people might want to consider if one of their life goals is to be a university student.

1. Emotional health over academic healthDoes this mean you neglect your studies? Of course not. The key to success in anything external is the balance of the internal. It is of paramount importance that university students invest in their emotional health. Meeting and staying with new people every day will require one to be grounded in who they are. This can be achieved by taking care of one’s emotional and mental health: going to the gym, journaling, meeting people with similar interests, and reading books of empowerment.

2. Two many relationships can be a curse. The cliched advice given to new students 80% of the time is that they must form as many connections as they can in University. However, there are no warnings regarding the types of relationships that they must form. Not everyone who comes up to you and greets you must be your friend. Choosing friends with discernment and valid reasons is very important.

3. Live, live, live.

Living university life doesn’t mean drinking and partying all the time, it simply means exploring every part of who you are. Explore yourself outside of the person that your parents and high school friends told you that you were.
