The latest update that was issued by Newsroom Africa reporter Athi Mtongana confirmed that the 29th of September was scheduled to be the day when the President of South Africa would open up regarding the Phala Phala issue.

In accordance with Athi Mtongana, the Speaker of Parliament Nosiviwe Nqakula confirmed that the President issued the 29th of September as the day on which he would appear before Parliament and answer the Phala Phala question which was issued by the ATM party.

RESPONSE BY SOME OPPOSITION PARTIES

Although this is what some political parties have been waiting for, the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) was not pleased with the date that was set by the President. Floyd Shivambu, who is the Chief Whip for the EFF was not pleased with the days and reportedly said that the President had to treat the matter with urgency. This implies that they wanted an earlier date than what the President of South Africa set.

Shiviwe Gwarumbe, who is the Chief Whip for the Democratic Alliance was not pleased either with the response of the President. The IFP and the ACDP also expected an earlier date as shown in the screenshots below :

The decision that was taken by the President of South Africa Mr Cyril Ramaphosa to clear the air regarding the Phala Phala issue is a welcome one. Although the date may be too far, this will enable South Africa to get closure on the issue. There are many claims that have to be clarified by the President on the 29th of September so that the people get to know the whole truth.
